A grooved top edge clips onto the window edge, so the panel stays put at speed. Mesh across the opening keeps leaves and bugs out when you camp with the windows cracked. The frame is ABS and the mesh resists rust. You also get less wind buffeting and noise on daily drives with the windows down.
